The finalists were forced to dodge the showers on an overcast day as rain briefly interrupted play in addition to delaying the start.

North Scarle won the toss and elected to play against Wheatley Hills on the freshly-watered grass courts.  Wheatley Hills overcame a 32 point handicap to be the decisive winners – beating a previously undefeated North Scarle into second place for the Brittain Cup. The trophy was presented by Keith Brittain, a former Secretary of Gainsborough Evening Tennis League.

In the final of the Holmes Cup, Haxey proved a stronger team than Gainsborough, winning every rubber on the hard courts despite some lengthy rallies.

The afternoon included some musical entertainment between the matches provided by guitarist and singer Phoebe (a Gainsborough club member) and concluded with a splendid buffet prepared by the Gainsborough ladies before the presentation of trophies.

The winning teams for 2019 are:

Division One: Retford 1

Division Two: North Scarle 1

Division Three: Brigg 1

Brittain Cup: Wheatley Hills

Holmes Cup: Haxey 2
