After being rained-off twice, the Mansfield Tournament was finally played on Sunday 12 September with over 20 competitors from various clubs in the area. Players competed over six rounds, each played with a different partner and, fortunately, the rain just about stayed away! There was plenty of good tennis during the afternoon and several players were within a few points of the eventual winners in a tight battle for the trophies. When the results were announced by tournament organiser Phil Green, Diane Allison triumphed in the ladies event and Brian Murphy was the winner of the men’s section. The tournament is named after Len Mansfield and is believed to be the longest established tennis tournament in Lincolnshire.
